story

specially dedicated to my two seiyuu-mates..no words say how i happy i am to know you both - means a lot to me..keep the dream alive yo? :3

*******************

June yawned, stretched and sat sprawled along the row of chairs, looking around the studio in boredom.

"Na ya..." she complained, uttering perfect Kansai-ben.

It had been 2 hours since she had been waiting outside. Her friends Lay Peng and Kai Heng were in the recording room, doing their script lines.

"Two years, hasn't it nya..." she yawned and stretched again.

Two years...

"Miss you there! See you in Japan!"

"Ganbare yo!"

Two years ago they were a bunch of newbies in a voice-acting class with the inspiration to star in a Japanese animation. Along the years one dropped out but went into Japanese-comic-drawing.

It was that fateful day the doctor told her if she wouldn't stop her voice-acting her jaw problem would worsen and had to opt for surgery which would be extremely risky.

"Shanai wa.." she murmured, quickly wiping her tears away. However, all did not go to waste.

She gave up working and concentrated in perfecting her comic-drawing skills. It was not easy to see her friends having spending power: having a good time belting out Japanese songs in their favourite karaoke studio. If it was not for one who kept insisting on paying - of that became an never-ending shovings between the both of them: one insisting on paying for herself, the other insisting on paying for her. Someday she would pay back the favour - infinitely.

And then it happened.

***********

Another fateful day she was frantically trying to finish a frame for Enotomo-sensei to have back the studio when the man himself stood by the doorway, smiling.

"S-sensei!" she jumped up from seat. "I did not realise it’s time! Sorry! I'll pack my stuffs -"

"Osuwari!" Mr Enotomo burst out with a perfect intonation of her favourite Japanese animation character - which got her to stick herself on the chair, "Hai buchou!"..and she remembered why she said that..damn, she missed those days..she hated being alone when her friends have already made their names in Japan..what were their stage names again..?

It was when she got the news of her life.

Her works had been secretly sent to Japan without her knowing - all thanks to her sensei who always kept her work "for teaching reference" as he would always tell her.

"NA YA!" she sprang up from her seat - and checked herself. "Sorry," she scratched the back of her head, sheepishly grinning at her teacher who continued. She could not believe what she heard: all she could figure was her works had been complied and an animation was on the way: starring her two favourites - which was the reason why they went over.

"..but what's interesting is.." her teacher imitated a mischevious - scary - character's grin that could send a shiver down her spine, "they didn't know it was your work."

All she could manage was a gaping lower jaw (anymore flexible it could swing back and forth).

"I'm giving you the honour to tell them yourself."

************

Land.

Being acrophobic she could almost kiss the ground in relief. However the ground seemed to be shifting its plates from left, right, front, back.."Aaargh!" she cursed under her breath, gritting her teeth, forcing herself to trudge on with that heavy luggage and bag of hers. She definitely needed help - and she knows who to count on. With that thought, she felt better and even managed a grin - but realising stares around her - she flew her hand to her mouth - and giggled. No matter, it was a safe journey although there was a slight turbulence along the flight that made her wonder why in her life she wanted to draw a mecha series.

"I'm meeting my friends!" her heart thumped wilder and wilder as she proceeded to the arrival hall - and SQUUUEEEEEEAAAALED her way to her friends, squeezing the life out of them, crying.

"Sorry," she grinned sheepishly, wiping her tears away, "I MISS YOU!!!" Energy bounced back into her and both her friends could see her eyes shining as they would always when she would get excited - and nothing can stop her - except for food..probably..

It was going to be one long LOUD ride to their accomodation.

*************

"Uso..da.."

They were right after all. During the journey she had asked them whether they had read the manga before taking on roles for the anime. It was a dramatic change as she listened intently to their experiences as they recalled moments in the manga which made impressions in their memories, laughed along with and teased them. Through it all there was a seriousess and - even a hint of nervousness - in her voice that came across to them as strange..but one would have known she may be strongly invovled in this project.

Tears welled up her eyes again as she sat opposite them after telling them the news - without giving any time for herself to unpack but got them both down on their seats: the light in her eyes had faded, replaced with an emotionless expression on her face, her jaw set hard. And she had expected the blank look on their faces with her sudden change of emotion.

She was the one whose manga inspired the anime: the only manga-ka who did all the storyboard, the scripts, the drawings - everything.

She sighed, ruffling her gel-spiked bleached hair (which by some chemcial technology the gel would still hold the hair in place no matter how rough the ruffling might be).

Then it was her turn to blink-blank.

Lay Peng let out a SQUEEEEAL and - "REALLY?!!! IT WAS YOU?!!!! HOW DID YOU DO IT?!!!!" - etc.etc.

Kai Heng didn't say anything: he might have expected it. However it still had an element of surprise as almost 100% of analysation during the journey suddenly revealed the absolute truth.

While both of them were still reacting to the surprise June laid sprawled, yawned and stretched on the sofa of their apartment: she may not be home-home, but it was more than enough to be home: her dreams came true, based at where she had always dreamt of, having her friends to star in the anime which she had it firstly in the manga and to be heavily invovled in producation and the directing - with a voice line or two as a supporting characters to her friend's delight (and secretly would loved to drag her for future radio talk shows).

"Tadaima."
